India is located in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by geographical area and the second-most populous country in the world (3.3 million km² – 1.21 billion inhabitants). India is bounded by the Indian Ocean on the south, the Arabian Sea on the southwest, and the Bay of Bengal on the southeast, it shares land borders with Pakistan to the west, Bhutan, the China and Nepal to the northeast, Bangladesh and Burma to the east.
