Jordan, an Arab nation on the east bank
of the Jordan River, is defined by ancient monuments, nature reserves
and seaside resorts. It’s home to the wonderful Roman town of Jerash as
well as famed archaeological site of Petra, the Nabatean capital dating
to around 300 B.C.E. Set in a narrow valley with tombs, temples and
monuments carved into the surrounding pink sandstone cliffs, Petra earns
its nickname, the "Rose City.” Its total land area is
89,342 km2 with an estimated
population of 8 Millions. Jordan's Capital City is
Amman.
Jordan is bordered by Saudi Arabia to the south and
east, Iraq to the north-east, Syria to the north, and Israel and
Palestine to the west.
