Summary |
Modern gas turbine technology has begun to penetrate into the clean coal and refinery residue-based power generation markets. Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) and Pressurized Fluidized Bed Combustion (PFBC) technologies are the main precursors of the transition of gas turbines towards heavy fuel firing. |
In addition, within the next ten years, underground coal gasification and Externally Fired Combined Cycle (EFCC) may also become gas turbine-related technologies. |
According to IMTE AG study, all this may happen within a shorter timescale than previously anticipated |
